Scotts Wine Bar Leicester wine tasting
Kilo held its first Leicester wine tasting event at Scotts wine bar in Quorn in December 2016.
Having already decided to stock some of Kilos wines and keen to help support local businesses, the owner Steve Scott invited his customers to come along to the informal tasting to sample some of the wines Kilo has to offer. We were pleasantly surprised with the turn out to the tasting with a steady flow of people attending throughout the evening keen to try the range of sparkling, white, rose and red wines we had selected to taste.
The Canella Prosecco, Vigneti Radica Pecorino, Origini Primitivo and Duo, proved to be popular favourites. We decided to take a more informal approach to the evening to reinforce Kilos approach to selling wines, keeping it to the point and focussing on the customer enjoying the wine rather than overwhelming people with technical information. The relaxing hospitable atmosphere in Scotts wine bar resulted in people staying late into the evening, allowing us to get to know some of the lovely people from the village and surrounding areas.
It was also fantastic to have some budding enthusiasts testing their pallets by naming the flavours and aromas they could detect. In these interested cases we were more than happy to give all the background details to the wines to aid people if forming a fuller opinion of our products. The ‘Win wine’ competition proved again to be popular, with Sue Pringle being the winner after her husband comically picked out her lucky ticket in front of everyone. Overall the evening proved a great success for both Steve Scott in promoting his bar and in introducing Kilo to some keen wine drinkers in the village.
